Yes­ter­day there was a taxi cab strike in San Fran­cisco. The dri­vers I believe have some pretty rea­son­able con­cerns. There was a big stink last year about the cities sale of of taxi medal­lions. More recently the dis­cus­sion has focused on rais­ing the fare prices (the last increase was eight years ago)  and on the 5% credit card pro­cess­ing fees the cab com­pa­nies charge.

Well some of the dri­vers are get­ting smart.  I was run­ning a bit late this morn­ing and I grabbed a cab to the stu­dio.  Upon arriv­ing I handed the taxi dri­ver my credit card, and he pulled out his smart­phone, and processed my card using Square. I guess Jack Dorsey is onto some­thing here…
